The word kāfir is the active participle of the verb كَفَرَ kafara, from root ك-ف-ر K-F-R.[10] As a pre-Islamic term it described farmers burying seeds in the ground. One of its applications in the Quran has also the same meaning as farmer.[35] Since farmers cover the seeds with soil while planting, the word kāfir implies a person who hides or covers.[10] Ideologically, it implies a person who hides or covers the truth. Arabic poets personify the darkness of night as kâfir by wikipedia
Try actually reading the entire verse: al-Baiyinah 98:6
Verily, those who [despite all evidence] are bent on denying the truth - [be they] from among the followers of earlier revelation or from among those who ascribe divinity to aught beside God - will find themselves in the fire of hell, therein to abide: they are the worst of all creatures.
It doesn’t say “non-Muslims” as your loaded question implies,
it says ‘those who knowingly deny the truth’.
Personally I concur, whether we are talking religion, politics, or science:
Those who knowingly deny the truth are the worst of all creatures.by

What’s more is that Islam does not target any country or peoples for hate. The Quran speaks about past people’s mistakes and transgressions toward Allah Almighty, as a lesson for future generation who are likely to go down the same path. But the religion of Islam does not advocate hate of anyone.
Allah sent Islam as a mercy to mankind. Allah says in the Quran:
{And We have sent you (O Muhammad SAW) not but as a mercy for all that exists.} (21:107)
Allah recognizes that this will come up, and offers a remedy to hate in the Quran:
{And good and evil are not alike. Repel evil with that which is best. And lo, he between whom and thyself was enmity will become as though he were a warm friend. But none is granted it save those who are steadfast; and none is granted it save those who possess a large share of good.} (41:35-6)
Historically, Islam has always respected and upheld the principle of freedom of religion. The Quran and other principle texts including the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) preach tolerance towards other religions and non-believers. Non-Muslims living under Muslim rule are allowed to practice their religion and even have their own courts.
We have revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ this Book with the truth, as a confirmation of previous Scriptures and a supreme authority on them. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and do not follow their desires over the truth that has come to you. To each of you We have ordained a code of law and a way of life. If Allah had willed, He would have made you one community, but His Will is to test you with what He has given ˹each of˺ you. So compete with one another in doing good. To Allah you will all return, then He will inform you ˹of the truth˺ regarding your differences.Quran 5 :48
And if (had) willed your Lord surely, (would) have believed who (are) in the earth all of them together. Then, will you compel the mankind until they become believers? Quran 10:99
Viviane Comerro, Professeur in Islamic literature at INALCO, considers the possibility of Quranic Uzair not being Ezra but Azariah instead, relying on Ibn Qutaybah, and identifying a confusion committed by Muslim exegetes.[clarification needed] She declares : "There is, from muslim traditionalists, a confusion between two distinct characters, Ezra ['Azrà] et Azariah ['Azarya(h)](...) Thus, it is possible that the quranic vocable Uzayr could find its origin in Azariah's one." [32]
The deuterocanonical version of the book of Daniel confirms this hypothesis.[citation needed] The Theodotion's version, used by Catholics and Orthodox Christians contains the Prayer of Azariah, an apocryphal prayer added by Hellenistic rabbis in the Septuagint version of the book of Daniel, which curiously[original research?] mentions Abednego by his other name, Azariah, rather than Abednego[33] which is used in the whole chapter 3 of the Hebrew and Protestant version, without any mention of the name "Azariah" in this chapter.[34] This mention precedes the appearance of an angel qualified by Nebuchadnezzar as having the form of the "son of god".[35][original research?] Legends from Jewish communities of Arabia which were using the Septuagint version of the Book of Daniel made the confusion between the fourth character, the angel who is like the son of god, and Azariah himself, as confirmed by H. Schwarzbaum.[36] In this perspective, the Quranic narrator seems to blame the Jews who believed in such a legend and who considered Azariah as the son of God, legend which finds its origin in a confusion due to an addition in the original biblical corpus by the rabbis who elaborated the Septuagint.[citation needed] by

TRUTH:
The above quoted verses are in context of "Sabbath of Israelites" as mentioned in Bible Exodus 31:12-17. According to their own history and religious scriptures Israelites broke the Sabbath and many of them were turned to Apes and Swine. Quran doesn't says unbelievers are apes and swine. Arabic like Aramaic and Hebrew, is a Semitic language. The word that described God in Aramaic was pronounced "AaLaH" or "AaLoH", in Hebrew it was "Eloah" or "Elohim", and in Arabic (the largest living member of the Semitic language family) is "Allah", which is considered a conjunction of "Al-ilah", which is Arabic for "The-God" in English. The English word "God" describes the same entity, and The Quran clearly invites all people to unite under one God:
Say: “O people of the Scripture, let us come to a common understanding between us and between you; that we do not serve except God/Allah, and do not set up anything at all with Him, and that none of us takes each other as patrons beside God/Allah.” If they turn away, then say: “Bear witness that we have submitted.” [3:64]
And do not argue with the people of the Scripture except in the best manner; except for those who are wicked amongst them; and say: “We believe in what was revealed to us and in what was revealed to you, and our god/ilah and your god/ilah is the same; to Him we submit.” [29:46]
Indeed, those who believed and those who became Jews and the Christians and the Sabians - who believed in Allah and the Day [the] Last and did righteous deeds, so for them (is) their reward with their Lord and no fear on them and not they will grieve Quran 2:62
And were it not that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of god is much mentioned. And Allah will surely support those who support Him… Quran 22:40
Originally, the Arabs used the expression "may God destroy him" in the sense of a direct imprecation; but already in pre-Qur'anic Arabic it had assumed the character of an idiomatic device meant to circumscribe anything that is extremely strange or horrifying: and, according to many philologists, "this, rather than its literal meaning, is the purport [of this phrase] here" (Manar X, 399).by muhammad assad
9:30- (those) Jews said, "Uzair is the son of Allah"¹. The Christians said, "Christ is the son of God." These are their words [made up] with their mouths. They liken their [words]³ to the words of those who had previously covered the truth. They tried to fight God⁴. How are they reversed [from truth to lies]?
⁴: The word "ka'tele= قاتل" is a verb from the mufaala (action in response). It has been said to mean a curse, but in fact, this word means "they have come to fight against Allah" (Al-Raghib Al-Isfahani : قتل), similar to the phrase "...you are in a war by Allah and His Messenger..." in verse 278 of Baqara . The expression "trying to fight with Allah and His Messenger" in verse 33 of Maida is an example for this. by h. öndeş

The regard for peace, righteousness and justice above all else:
O believers! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses for the sake of God, even (if this may go) against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin... [4:135]
…help one another in righteousness and piety, but do not help one another in sin and wickedness…. [5:2]
O believers! Stand out firmly for God, as witnesses for the sake of justice, and let not the enmity of a people cause you to turn away from justice. Do justice, for that is akin to piety... [5:8]
If they come across vain talk, they disregard it and say, "To us are our deeds, and to you is your deeds. Peace be upon you. We do not seek the ignorant." [28:55]
God does not forbid you from those who have not fought you because of your system, nor drove you out of your homes, that you deal kindly and equitably with them. For God loves the equitable. [60:8]
And if they seek peace, then you also seek it, and put your trust in God. He is the Hearer, the Knowledgeable. [8:61]
Not equal are the good and the bad response. You shall resort to the one which is better. Thus, the one who used to be your enemy may become your best friend. [41:34]
To these We grant twice the reward for that they have been patient. And they counter evil with good, and from Our provisions to them, they give. [28:54]
To each is a direction that he will take, so you shall race towards good deeds. Wherever you may be, God will bring you all together. God is capable of all things. [2:148]
Take to pardoning, and order with what is good, and leave alone the ignorant ones. [7:199]
The Quran states, in no uncertain terms, that there is no compulsion in religion:
Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in God has grasped the most sure hand-hold, that never breaks. And God is Hearing, Knowing.[2:256]
Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in God has grasped the most sure hand-hold, that never breaks. And God is Hearing, Knowing.[2:256]
And there are some of them who believe in it, and some of them do not believe in it. Your Lord is better aware of the transgressors.
And if they deny you, then say: “I have my deeds, and you have your deeds. You are innocent from what I do, and I am innocent from what you do.”
[10:40-41]
And if they deny you, then say: “I have my deeds, and you have your deeds. You are innocent from what I do, and I am innocent from what you do.”
[10:40-41]
This is a reminder, so let he who wishes take a path to his Lord. [73:19]
Tolerance and respect for other faiths:
Those who believe, and those who are Jewish, and the Sabiens, and the Nazarenes*; whoever of them believes in God and the Last Day and does good works, then they will have nothing to fear nor will they grieve.[5:69]
